just plain awesome. Nicely done, Jim. only thing that bugs me about it is the arm on the right, of the crab. not his claw, but leading up to it. Looks a little bland, mayhap? Other then that, it's quite impressive.
thanks for the crit, let me see if i can get this bug out of this illustration. don't want bugs messing with my followers... so to get me on the right page, you are talking about the crab's left arm?
I think I can see Edgecrushers point, the arm of the crab leading to his left claw (right of the pic) looked strange to me at first. I tried to look hard to figure out why, the best that I could see (with my not so artsy eyes), is that it may have something to do with the crabs shadow. One claw has shadow in the background, one claw has light. Also one is more in view because of the angle. I wonder if this has something to do with the way it looks? I wouldn't say optical illusion persay, but perhaps along those lines? Still loving the awesome attention to detail.
Hmm, how to put it into words... The whole arm (to the right, even the claw) is 'flat' as compared to the head and the left claw. Not enough light/shadow combination. Just seems... unfinished. Needs more highlights and shadow, more contrast-if that makes sense. I am having a hard time describing it.
